No Make-Up Days Required

Willis ISD closed schools due to bad weather Jan. 16-17, 2018. District administration has verified that there are enough instructional minutes built into our academic calendar that students will NOT be required to make up the two missed days.

Mary Gregory Named MVP

Willis ISD has named Mary Gregory as the district’s December MVP. Gregory is the Principal’s Secretary at Parmley Elementary. According to Calandra Lewis, Principal, Gregory is the go-to-person for almost everything on the campus. In addition to handling all the office matters, she also finds time to mentor not only students but fellow teachers, as well. Gregory has been at Parmley for 12 years. Each month, WISD honors educators making a difference within the district. A video tribute was shown before the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees on Wed., Dec. 13.

November Students of the Month

The November Students of the Month were announced Wednesday at the school board meeting. The elementary honoree is Alexander Hernandez, a fifth-grade student at Parmley Elementary; and the secondary honoree is Jack Wiebe, an eighth-grade student at Brabham Middle School.

Rules for Student Attendance at Home Events

Friday night football games bring large crowds to Yates Stadium. While we have numerous administrators and security in attendance at events, the size of the facility and number of spectators diminishes our ability to safely supervise unattended students. To ensure the safety of students, parents and community members, Willis ISD will continue the rules enacted last year.

Please join us in the Parmley Cafeteria, November 14, 2017, from 5:30-7:00, for a fun evening of hands-on learning! Students and families will have the opportunity to explore a variety of activities in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math!

April 2018 Student Holiday Date Change

Recently the Texas Education Agency announced that the April 2018 STAAR test administration window changed. This would have meant our students would have a holiday the day before a STAAR Test. Therefore, we have moved the student holiday/staff development day from April 9 to April 16. Below is the NEW schedule of events for April, including the Montgomery County Fair week.

April 9-13: STAAR testing window (school in session all 5 days)
April 11: Board of Trustees Meeting
April 16: STUDENT HOLIDAY/Staff Development (replaces the April 9 holiday)
April 16-20: Montgomery County Fair Week
